Steering a kite is like dancing with a bad partner. You lead it and it is slow to follow, lagging a few steps behind. Then it gains momentum and starts leading you. Now you have to slow it down and correct its movement. Even if it keeps rhythm for a while, you are always checking, making sure that it does not wonder off.
To help keep sand from getting inside of your bladders, blow air out of your pump before inserting it into your kite's valve.
Clean your pump from time to time. Unscrew the top and take a paper towel to wipe off all the sand and nasty grease inside. Use a silicone lubricant to make everything slide up smoothly.
