You're packing your foil to kite in Hawaii. I recommend using a mast less than 75cm in length, preferably 60cm. You'll be less likely to ground out.
When unclamping the hose from your strut, you hear air going into the leading edge of your kite. Your LE has a leak. If your kite hasn't been around any thorns, most likely a valve is delaminating.
Too often I see people launch for a jump after the kite passes 12. The kite has most lift at 12. Utilize this fact and time your take offs as the kite reaches 12 or just before it reaches 12.
During repairs, push tent stakes through attachment points on your kite to hold the canopy in place while pulling out or insert a bladder.
Next time you hear someone say, "they are talented," remind yourself that they most likely they were not born with that talent. They probably practiced perseverance. No go fly a kite. Monkey see. Monkey do.
Avoid buying or using kites that have bridles that are long enough to wrap around a wingtip. Invariably they will get caught on a wingtip while you are trying to relaunch and cause difficulties.
Let's say you are doing a back-rolls. Is there consistently a part of the trick that you don't remember? There next time you do one, focus your attention on that part of the trick. This may be where things are coming out of alignment.
Getting good has less to do with talent and natural ability and has everything to do with perseverance. Don't give up.
When the waves are big or you have a large tide change, think about flying a kite size larger than usual. It's easier to ride powered than to struggle while being underpowered.
