The first reason to not attach your kite leash to your board during a self-rescue is that if the kite does power up, the lines can slide through your hands and when the burning forces you to let go, you'll lose your kite, board and bar. $$$
Your kite is made of polyester, "Dacron," and does not float. In an emergency when your kite has completely deflated, you can still use it to trap air to create a makeshift floatation device.
As your kite flies away, you'll learn that your standard kite leash may not work as was a handle pass leash. Before learning advanced tricks, buy a leash that requires more force to activate.
To keep your hose from popping off the male end twisted onto your new pump, use some contact cement to glue the hose securely on to that male piece.
Use a down (kite) loop transition turn when you want to change directions but someone is riding right behind you. Your kite will loop lower then theirs as it pulls you down wind and towards the other direction.
Glue your de-laminating board or the grip tape on your bar back together w/contact cement. Apply the glue to both sides and then let it dry for 15 minutes before pressing them together.
Those nicks and scratches on your board's rails and fins can cut you up. Use 120 grit sand paper to smooth out those edges before your next crash.
Know your ability. Today there were over 15 rescues. If you wear a leash, helmet, life jacket and/or do not know how to self-rescue please reconsider kiting in the waves.
The key to so many tricks is to swing out away from the kite so you can swing back under it for a smooth landing.
You only have one set of eyes. Invest in some quality polarized sun glasses and protect your eyes from the sun's reflections. A floating strap for you glasses is worth the 10 extra bucks.
